Why we co-sign this petition?
Organizations
National Union of University Students in Finland
SYL supports this petition to improve Finnish Immigration Service to attract and retain international talent. The guidelines for residence permits should make it possible to flexibly move between studies, working life and entrepreneurship. The process to get and renew the residence permit takes too long at the moment.
Suomen Yrittäjät
Federation of Finnish Enterprises
Suomen Yrittäjät (The Federation of Finnish Enterprises) supports this petition to reform and improve the Finnish immigration system. Finland has great potential in attracting and retaining international talents, however the foundation that our immigration system is built upon must be efficient and welcoming from the get-go and therefore we are asking for reform and renewal. One of the biggest obstacles small and medium sized companies face is finding the right talent, a flexible and well-organized residence permit system is the way forward.
Amcham Finland
Amcham Finland supports this petition as part of our mission to create an environment that allows international business to thrive. Finland needs to remain an internationally attractive place to work, which means conditions should be favorable for recruiting international talent. We need a constructive solution for improving the immigration experience so that individuals and their families can integrate quickly and efficiently into life in Finland. We believe that specific targets and transparent procedures will help to ensure the integrity and efficiency of the immigration process.
The Shortcut
The Shortcut’s mission is to drive meaningful professional integration in Finland. Our role is to 1) ensure that highly educated talent that is already here finds valuable work that fits their skills and education 2) ensure that people who have found their way here create a long and robust relationship in Finland. We want them to build roots here. Talent attraction, retention and inclusion are vitally important for the longevity of this great country. Having a well functioning, transparent, reliable and expeditious immigration service is key to the long term integration of foreigners.
International Working Women of Finland RY
International Working Women of Finland RY supports this petition as one of our aim is to reduce barriers international talents face as they enter the Finnish workforce. International talent attraction, retention and inclusion are key for the long-term socio-economical success of Finland. The Finnish immigration bureaucracy should be an enabler of the success with fast, simple and transparent processes.
Norders
We at Norders support this petition as a part of the goal of making the Nordics the happiest growth platform of the world. We believe that growth is born out of diverse and inclusive collaboration. As a creative impact agency, we aim to empower brands, changemakers and creatives to build sustainable growth and positive impact through marketing activities that arise from the Nordic core strengths. As a small country and continent, we need to make it as easy as possible for our fellow friends from abroad to integrate, so we can stay true to our shared Nordic values: trust, openness, compassion and sustainable innovation.
Korkeakouluopiskelijat
Korkeakouluopiskelijat supports this petition to improve Finnish Immigration Service as our goal is to improve the quality of life and studies of every student. International students suffer from slow processes between studying, working life, and entrepreneurship. This puts students in a multicultural Finland in an unequal position and reduces the opportunities for international students to adapt to society. In the longer term, this will also harm the aging society of Finland as it fails to attract and retain international talent.
Startups/Companies
Finland has a thriving startup ecosystem and for example the local games companies are known for having produced some of the biggest global hit games. That has been made possible by having access to the global talent no matter where in the World that person happens to be. In the fast moving, ultra competitive, business of startups and games, every single day counts. Having to wait for months and months for global talent to clear the Finnish immigration bureaucracy is a massive competitive disadvantage that Finland as a nation can't afford. This has to be fixed. Now.
We support this petition because the current immigration system is broken, which makes it impossible for Finland to be competitive in talent attraction and achieving economic growth. Without talent, without immigration, our nation cannot grow and prosper. We need to remove these antique processes and become agile in order to attract international students and talent. The processes need to be reformed together with the attitudes.
We support this petition, simply because when startup or business come long means speed, agility, performance and high quality of service and with this way of Migri dealing with entrepreneurs we are not able to serve in an international level. We choose Finland, because we believe this is the best country to develop latest tech and promote it to the world but we are not seeing and feeling it at the moment. We are lagging behind.
Finland has never succeeded alone. In a global world, this is unlikely to change. It is vital for a vibrant and evolving society to be able to involve everyone and make the rules of the game fair and humane. Collaboration is not just a way to evolve in our rapidly chancing world – sometimes it is the only solution we have in order to combine our knowledge and skills to meet the increasingly complex challenges of the modern world. Finland has a huge potential and wide range of top experts, whose work we can be proud of. However, if we want the rest of the world to see us, we must first welcome the world around us.
Legal
Lakitoimisto Sinica Oy supports this petition. We call to improve the services provided by Finnish Immigration Service, the Center for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment, and also Finland's immigration policy and laws in general, in order to facilitate more immigration opportunities that would assist Finland's growth and development. On a daily basis, we witness many immigrants struggle to stay in Finland or enter Finland in the first place, not because of their lack of capabilities, resources or reasons to stay or enter, but because they were confused or frustrated by the immigration system in Finland. We cannot afford to lose these talents and resources. The system of worker's residence permit and enterpreneur residence permit must be thoroughly reformed to face today's agile working and enterpreneurship environment.
