200+ Pakistani student's can't get first study permits
I would like to bring your attention towards a huge hurdle faced by many Pakistani Students, who have been admitted in different universities of Finland. For us Pakistani Students, we have to get our Residence Permit applications processed in Finnish Embassy, Abu Dhabi, UAE as there is no Finnish Embassy in Pakistan. But UAE has imposed a travel ban on Pakistani Visit Visa Holders effective from May 12, 2021 till further notice.
In this academic year, many Finnish Universities have decided to resume on-campus classes as the COVID situation is under control in Finland. Due to the visa and flight ban, it is not possible for most Pakistani Students to visit the Finnish Embassy in UAE and attend their RP application appointments.
We as students have done everything in our power to raise this issue with the Finnish Authorities, and the Finnish Embassy in UAE to get an alternate for processing RPs. However, we have not been able to get a positive response from any authority.
As you know, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for many students to get admissions in prestigious Finnish Universities. Many of the students are scholarship holders as well.
Under the current circumstances, most of the students are unable to start their studies in time and some of us will even lose our (highly competitive) funded and fully funded scholarship offers. Due to this whole situation stated above, the students are very disheartened and in a lot of distress.
Therefore, we humbly request you to please help in raising this issue at the earliest possible through your prestigious platform and help students achieve their dreams.
Regards,
Ausaf Ali Khan (On behalf of Pakistani Students)

The estimated processing time for a spouse visa is 9 months, which is unreasonably long.
Unfair situation: it takes longer for Pakistani Citizens because they have received more negative decisions.
I got admitted in Tampere University in 2020 and still waiting to get my first residence permit. I got appointment on march but at that UAE visas were ban. Higher authorities should take appropriate steps
I started my study online in January 2021 and completed one semester completely online. I have requested the embassy of Finland in UAE for an appointment in 2nd of October 2020, I got one in march 2021 but on that time, I did not get UAE visit visa due to which I cancelled it and requested the embassy to put me back in queue. After that, in 1st of June I got UAE visit visa with my family. My visit visa had expired because of flights suspension from UAE government. it won’t happen due to travel restrictions imposed by the UAE govt. This travel ban has made things worse for us. Alternate option will be helpful for us to get…

I am waiting since March, its my humble request to Finnish Authorities to facilitate Pakistani students as soon as possible
I am also waiting since March 2021. I have successfully secured admission in a Finnish University, paid my tuition fee and have completed all required documentary evidence but still cannot go to Finland due to travel restrictions to UAE. Situation could be easier if Pakistani applicants could apply for residence permit through other Finnish Diplomatic Missions in addition to the one in Abu Dhabi.
